I used a 1” bulkhead,, 1” pvc with 90* elbows, the bubble traps are 8” tall,, 1” apart this allow’s for easy cleaning in between them .

I am about to put a refu in my 29 gallon biocube as well. I was wondering if you could tell me a few things about yours. I wanted to know what size bulk head you used for the overflow as well as what size PVC pipe you used for the overflow and return pump. I also want to know the spacing and height on your baffels for you bubble trap. please get back to me as soon as you can. I will be starting this the first week in July. Thank you.

i have a 90 deg street elbow in chamber 3 on the drilled bulkhead aiming straight down with a strainer on it. the air lines on the out side of the bulkhead act as durso vent .

And then what? What is connected to the bulkhead inside the Biocube? Durso stand pipe? Do you have a link you could post here with pics or a walkthrough of your build?

I got the clams at a local fresh fish market,, they are “cherry stones” they keep them on ice but when there put dack in water they do quite well.

What kind of drill bit did you use for this and how’d you do it. Was the tank running at the time of drilling? Did you make the Sump, whats the organization? What kind of pump are you using for the return?

So chambers 1 and 2 function the same and the water column in chamber 2 is basically 6″ (where you placed your bulkhead)? I run a CPR SR3 skimmer in chamber 2 now and would like to keep it, being able to keep a constant water height will be perfect for that. Do you have a durso standpipe on your overflow in chamber 3? (or how do you keep it from gurgling too much)?

Yah ,, I drilled the back and put in a bulkhead in chamber #3 aprox 6” from the bottom of the tank.

GREAT setup on you BioCube…I’ve wanted to do a sump on my BC29 as well for some time now. Did you drill the back for your overflow?..I couldn’t quite see how water is getting down to your sump
