monsdomain asked:
I’ve had no issues so far. I’m glad to report that the tank is thriving and I havent lost any corals since I started 3 months ago. Beginners luck I guess (knocking on wood). I do a 10% water change weekly and supplement the water with Extreme Garlic by Kent in 80-81 degree temp. I feed the corals with Phytoplankton every other day and a variety of dry and frozen diet for my fish. I’ve really enjoyed my mini reef a lot and Im excited to learn more about it and become a true aquarist. Now the …

I have this tank aswell, I just bought the protein skimmer and when I put it in the 1 overflow slot where the original cartridge filter goes the cartridge filter doesn’t fit along with the skimmer. Do you not use the cartridge filter with the protein skimmer or did you put it somewhere else? Thank’s and your tank looks great.

By the way as far as this being an Oceanic if I can ask ya’ …what size is this ? The 14 or the 29…kinda hard to tell by the video. I was thinking possibly the 14 but was not sure !
Thanks for posting.

Between the flawless scenery and the music I think I just fell asleep for five minutes with my eyes open and now I’m suddenly quite refreshed ! Dude I think I was snoring even ! Your tank is fantastic looking and you should be proud of yourself. Between your video and a comfortable office chair I think my blood pressure just went down !
Good work!!! Keep it up !

Thanks! I have about 12+ lbs inside the tank and 2.5 lbs in the back in place of the Bioballs. I also started with the Seachem Reef Plus supplement 2 weeks ago with great results and have been feeding my LPS and inverts with Phyto Feast. I’ve also extended my 20% water changes every other week from 1x a week and my system seems to like that better. Good luck if you’re just starting out and be patient. You’re patience will pay off, guaranteed.

Sorry to hear that man. That’s a bummer. Try to work out a deal with the local store. My bro in Cali just bought one and the store matched the online price which is unheard of before our economy crashed. Most local businesses are struggling and they are just looking to move their merchandise just to break even. I’m pretty sure you can get one at a discount at worst.

Well I got my tank in the mail today and the bottom was shattered. I called the company I ordered it from and they filed a report with UPS. It should take 3 to 10 days before I get my money back, and then i’m gonna buy my tank locally. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks! Yes I’m just using stock lighting. I dont see any reason to upgrade for now.

The best recommendation I can give you to get started with your biocube is get live rocks and sand right off the bat. Let it cycle for at least 2 weeks and be patient. That’s the hardest part. Test your water regularly and dont add any livestock until your your levels are in the acceptable range. The Protein Skimmer can wait until your tank is populated. Good luck with your tank!

I really like your setup man. I ordered the same tank and it should be here in a few days. Any advice on getting started. I will be adding the protein skimmer recommended. Anthing thing you can suggest would be great.
